Esther Manrriquez

November 13, 1925 ~ February 22, 2019 (age 93)

  Esther D. Manrriquez, 93, of Streator and formerly of DePue passed away at 5:22 PM Friday (February 22, 2019) at her daughter’s residence in Streator with her family by her side.

  Cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service will be held at a later date.  The Hagi & Baker Funeral Home in Streator is in charge of the arrangements.

  She was born November 13, 1925 in Mexico to Jesus & Cenaida (Guzman) Pizano.  She married Marcelino Manrriquez on October 13, 1950.  He preceded her in death on January 22, 2009.

  She is survived by a daughter, Silvia (James) Vargovcik of Streator; a son, Mario Manrriquez of LaSalle; 5 grandchildren:  Nathan Vargovcik, Matthew (Lisa) Vargovcik, Xander, Zane and Dorian Manrriquez; 2 great granddaughters:  Kaelyn & Rosalie Mannriquez; sisters:  Jessie Solorio of DePue, Francis (Gerald) Happold of DePue, Lucy (Richard) Bromley of Streator and Carmen (Joe) Heinz of Oglesby; a brother, David (Sue) Pizano of DePue and many beloved nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; 2 sisters:  Irene Noonan and Josephine Galindo; brother, Michael Pizano; special sister-in-laws:  Sally Pizano and Loretta Barroso and a special Aunt, Fern Mitchell.

  She retired from St. Margaret’s Hospital in the E.R. Housekeeping department in Spring Valley.

  She was a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in DePue and was a Christian, where she treasured her faith.

  Esther was a loving mother and grandmother, who loved music, fishing, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, loved to read, watch classic movies and really enjoyed just being with her family, especially gatherings at “Aunt Jessie’s”.
